Audi R8 Audi R8 Car

The Audi R8 (Typ 42) is a sports car with a longitudinally mounted mid-engine, and uses Audi's trademark quattro permanent all-wheel drive system. It was introduced by the German automaker Audi AG in 2006.
The car was exclusively designed, developed, and manufactured by Audi AG's high performance private subsidiary company, quattro GmbH, and is based on the Lamborghini Gallardo platform. fundamental construction of the R8 is based on the Audi Space Frame, uses an aluminium monocoque which is built around space frame principles. The car is built by quattro GmbH in a newly renovated factory at Audi's 'aluminium site' at Neckarsulm in Germany.
In 2005, Audi announced that the name of the successful Audi R8 race car would be used for a new road car in 2007, the Audi R8, based on the Audi Le Mans quattro concept car, appearing at the 2003 International Geneva Motor Show, and 2003 Frankfurt International Motor Show. The R8 road car was officially launched at the Paris Auto Show on 30 September 2006. There was some confusion with the name, which the car shares with the 24 Hours of Le Mans winning R8 Le Mans Prototype (LMP). 6-time 24 Hours of Le Mans winner Jacky Ickx described the R8 as "the best handling road car today".
The Audi R8 is used as a safety car in Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters and British Superbike Championship racing series.

The Audi R8 is a sports-prototype race car introduced in 2000 for sports car racing as a redevelopment of their Audi R8R (open top LMP) and Audi R8C (closed top LMGTP) used in 1999. It is one of the most successful sports cars ever (alongside such greats as the Porsche 956/962) having won the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2000, 2001, 2002, 2004, and 2005 (five of the seven years it competed). Its streak of Le Mans victories between 2000 and 2005 was broken only by the Bentley Speed 8 (powered by the same V8 twin-turbo engine) in 2003, when the R8 finished 3rd.

The petrol-powered Audi R8 race car was replaced by the new Audi R10 TDI Diesel in 2006; however, the need to further develop the R10 meant that the R8 saw action in a few races leading up to Le Mans.

Audi TT Current Audi TT Past Audi TT Models

At its debut as a concept car in 1995 and finally a production reality, the Audi TT was one of the most dramatic cars to come out in the mid-to-late 1990s. Its organic and symmetrically styled front and rear profiles contrasted with slab-sided flanks to create a look unlike anything Audi had ever done before. Meanwhile, the TT's handsomely executed interior left no discernible traces of the car's rather humble VW Golf roots.

Named after the Tourist Trophy motorsports event held on the Isle of Man (in which a predecessor of the Audi brand competed), the Audi TT is not quite a sports car, not quite a sport coupe or roadster. In essence, the front- or all-wheel-drive TT is a two-seat GT. True, the coupe has a pair of seats in the back, but they are best left for little kids or used as an upholstered package shelf. The TT has the low-slung look and feel of a sports car, but its dynamic personality is closer to that of a luxury sport coupe.

Regardless of year and trim level, the TT is respectably fast, but with some first-generation versions weighing more than 3,600 pounds and suspension tuning that prioritizes touring comfort over all-out cornering prowess, it won't be the first choice for hard-core enthusiasts. Those zealots seeking a harder-edged driving experience would be better served by more finely focused sports cars. The greater majority of consumers, however, who desire a sporty coupe or roadster with energetic performance and a heavy accent on style, should be more than happy with the Audi TT.

Current Audi TT

The Audi TT is available as a 2+2 hatchback coupe or a two-seat roadster convertible. Only one trim and engine are available, the latter being a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that produces 200 horsepower and 207 pound-feet of torque. Those interested in more power should check out the Audi TTS. Quattro all-wheel drive and a six-speed dual-clutch automated manual transmission (S tronic) are standard.

This lone engine is punchy enough, but it's also the least powerful engine in this segment. Handling is commendable, but hardly anything that'll remind you of a Porsche Boxster or Cayman. The optional magnetic ride suspension improves the TT's capability in this area without making the already firm ride unbearable, but we doubt many buyers will feel it's worth the price premium. Nevertheless, the TT is ultimately more about its unique style, a comfortable ride and its all-wheel-drive system that provides the sort of all-weather traction that few small coupes offer.

One of the TT's most notable assets is its superbly crafted interior, which entices with a look that is sleek and modern. Standard features include leather/faux suede upholstery, Bluetooth and satellite radio, while items like heated 10-way power seats, a navigation system, a Bose stereo and nifty baseball glove-style leather stitching are options. Though the coupe's rear seats aren't suitable for anyone taller than 5 feet, they fold down to create a substantial 23 cubic feet of cargo space.

Past Audi TT Models

The current Audi TT was redesigned for the 2008 model year and represents the second generation. The general look is the same as its predecessor, though character lines are crisper and the nose adopts Audi's now signature single-frame grille. Although longer and wider than the first TT, the latest version is lighter (by nearly 200 pounds in the case of the roadster) thanks to increased use of aluminum in the body structure. It also offers a more powerful four-cylinder engine.

Prior to 2010, the TT could be equipped with different powertrain options, specified as the TT 2.0T (the same as the current model) and TT 3.2. The TT 3.2 featured a 250-hp V6. This was a lively engine and certainly offered more grunt than the turbo-4, but its added weight was a detriment to handling. Both engines came standard with a six-speed manual, while the S tronic transmission was optional. Quattro was always standard on the TT 3.2, but was optional on the otherwise front-wheel-drive TT 2.0T for 2009 and not available at all for 2008. The equipment list was also added to and subtracted from during the current generation's lifespan.

Introduced for the 2000 model year and initially available solely as a hatchback coupe, the first TT was powered by Audi's peppy 1.8-liter, 180-hp turbocharged inline-4. Buyers could choose either front- or all-wheel drive (Audi's Quattro system). A five-speed manual was standard, while a six-speed manual was optional. Along with its low-slung, avant-garde styling, the TT boasted an equally unique interior that featured polished aluminum accents, impeccable fit and finish and, unfortunately, a few ergonomic glitches such as a CD changer mounted behind the driver seat and counterintuitive climate controls.

After a highly publicized recall to fix the twitchy handling characteristics of early TTs, a roadster and a 225-hp Quattro version debuted the following year. In 2003, an automatic transmission (with six speeds) became available. But the biggest news for this generation came in 2004, when the 250-hp 3.2-liter V6 and Audi's superb six-speed automanual gearbox became available. The latter, dubbed DSG, provided rapid yet jolt-free manual-style gearchanges that put a Ferrari's F1 transmission to shame. The Audi TT stood pat through 2006, the last year of this generation.

Potential buyers should know that, although potentially fast in a straight line, this TT was never considered a true sports car due to its potentially heavy curb weight and softly sprung suspension. Still, the TT should satisfy those who prize comfort, style and all-weather capability in their sport coupe or roadster.

2011 Maybach Pictures

Auto China 2010 played host to the debut of the facelifted 2011 models from Maybach. The cars are being viewed by many as a last-ditch effort to keep the struggling Maybach brand alive.

Daimler's most luxury automotive brand was responsible for just 200 units sold in all of 2009. It is for this reason that rumors have repeatedly surfaced that the Maybach brand is up for sale. Most recently, Chinese automaker BYD was alleged to have made a bid to purchase Maybach, although this was denied by a Daimler spokesperson.

All signs point to either a massive overhaul, a shutdown, or a sale of Maybach. Unfortunately, the facelifted models do not dissuade us from this thought. There simply is not enough that has been done differently on the new vehicles to make us believe they will suddenly see a spike in sales of the car.

Power has only been increased by 18 hp on the S-trim level cars to 630 hp (463 kW), with slight improvements in fuel economy, while the 57 and 62 units see no power increase at all. Combine this with the new front bumper, LED lights, redesigned grille and other exterior touches and it just doesn't seem to be enough of a life preserver for the brand.

Other changes include new 19-inch wheels for the standard model, and 20-inch wheels for the S models, reclining rear seats in the 57 and 57S, and a wide range of "too rich for my blood" interior options.

We do not want to see Maybach shuttered, but perhaps the unveiling in China is actually a search for a new suitor.

Maybach Exelero Nice Photoz

The Maybach Exelero is a high-performance sports car designed and built by German luxury car manufacturer Maybach. It was presented in May 2005 in Berlin, Germany. The 700 hp (522 kW) two-seater with a bi-turbo V12 engine is a one-off design commissioned by Fulda Tyres. Fulda is using this car as a reference vehicle to test a new generation of wide tires. The German luxury car manufacturer created the one-off model as a modern interpretation of its legendary streamlined sportscar from the 1930s. There are various allusions to the historical predecessor, which was likewise based on a powerful Maybach automobile. In this case, the Maybach SW 38 was also used by Fulda for tire testing.

Maybach Top Review

German car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz is contemplating on relaunch of its Maybach for the Indian market. The move comes in the wake of rising demand for the super rich cars in the market. Mercedes Benz Maybach is capable of running at 275km/hr speed and Mercedes may fix the price of this car as Rs51 million in India. The company’s Chief Executive said the Indian luxury car has such a dearth for supercars as the cost may be on par private jets.
Buzz up!
The analysis of the last year’s economy by Forbes revealed that there have been 17 new billionaires in the Indian population adding to the already existing to make it 69. As a partner of Daimler AG, Mercedes has sold 200 Maybach in the world market under two models – Maybach 57 S and 62. In the Chinese car market Mercedes has been selling 20 units of this Maybach but as of now there is no fixed target for India.

The executive said since its launch in 2004 Maybach has been moving at its own speed and for the Indian car market it is too early. But the company intends for a second push, he added. In the event of the launch of this Mercedes Benz Maybach in India, Mercedes would face VWAG’s Bentley and BMW’s Rolls Royce in this sector. This strategy is to migrate to newer markets as the developed markets have come to soft pedaling.

German coachbuilder, Xenatec, gets its kicks from making short cars long, long cars short, and long cars even longer. This is evident in their many zany interpretations, including their transformations for the Audi R8 and the Porsche 911. But their craziest package is yet to come with the Maybach Cruiserio Coupe, developed by Daimler and Saudi-based Auto Kingdom. There will only be 100 units built at a price of $940,000.

"The new Cruiserio coupe demonstrates a vision for design and production which AutoKingdom shares with the two German companies. This vision is the result of intellectual cooperation. The new generation features an advanced and ultra-elegant design by the most experienced and skilled automobile engineers and specialists who have deep knowledge of the demands of owners of luxury cars and their vision for an ultra-luxurious car which surpasses all what they saw in the past and is set to beat what they could see in the future."

The Cruiserio Coupe is powered by a V12 engine with an output of 605 HP and a sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 5.0 seconds, while top speed hits the 170 mph mark. Pretty amazing numbers considering we’re talking about a 5.7 meter luxury coupe.

UPDATE 12/29/2010: Well, it didn’t take long for the luxury ride to find its way into dealerships. We recently got word that the very first model of the Xenatec Maybach 57S Coupe is now being put up for sale by AutoKingdom, a luxury car dealer in Saudi Arabia for al ittle less than a million dollars. Incidentally, AutoKingdom is one of only two companies outside of Germany that has been given the rights to sell the limited-run vehicle with the other dealership being Russia’s ArmorTech Group.

Ford Flex Review

The Ford Flex is a full-size crossover manufactured by Ford Motor Company. Its styling is based on the Ford Fairlane concept unveiled at the 2005 North American International Auto Show. The production vehicle made its debut at the 2007 New York International Auto Show. Sales of the Flex began in summer of 2008 as a 2009 model. The Flex is produced on the same assembly line as the Edge and Lincoln MKX crossovers at the Oakville Assembly Plant in Oakville, Ontario, where the first Flex was driven off the line at the beginning of June 2008. It replaced the Ford Freestar minivan and therefore is the first crossover to feature both minivan and SUV properties delivered by Ford. The Flex is sold only in the United States, Canada and in the Middle East.
